Aiyaah! We are all malaysians so dont get too hung up about provincial/dialect issues. The owners say the name celebrates the spirit of the people that founded the first Republic in the world Lanfang Republic in Borneo in 1777 TEN years before USA became a Republic. It lasted for 107 years and had ten presidents and provided protection to the local Sultan. It celebrates the "can do" spirit of immigrants like us the world over. We should be proud that some Asians, Chinese even Hakkas have achieved something.I am not Hokkien but I would be happy to celebrate any achievement by any Hokkien- "In the Four Seas All men are Brothers"

Good grief, I cannot believe that Hokkien is mature right thinking adults. I dont think Chinese can complain about other races being prejudiced when such infantile attitudes persist among the Chinese about other Chinese. Grow up Hokkien....
